Boundless Energy Is Within You!

How do you feel as you go through your day?

Are you frequently drained and dispirited? Are there days when you just don’t have energy? Are there many more of these days than you would like?

Can you relate to this story about John?

John was in high school, and he was in love.

He had crushes before, but this was for real. Lisa was the most beautiful girl in the world. Her hair was spun gold and would have turned Rapunzel green with envy if she had chanced upon it. Her eyes were the deepest blue, the blue of the vast ocean of unfathomable depth. Except when they were green, the green of emeralds coruscating in the sun. Her nose was perfect and. when it twitched, he was reminded of Samantha in ‘Bewitched’ and would look around to see if pumpkins had turned into carriages.

Life was good. His breakfast orange juice became ambrosia. It was as if Peter Pan had sprinkled pixie dust on his life. The broken flagstone in the driveway was a thing of beauty. Lisa’s “Hi” became an entire concert of the richest notes.

And then Lisa said that perhaps they should stop meeting for a while. She needed to ‘sort out’ her feelings. And there was someone else she was seeing.

John fell into a slump. He could not eat. Sleep deserted him and he moved around in a daze. He attended classes but had no recollection of any of the lessons. He erupted violently when his mother suggested that perhaps he should also ‘start seeing someone else’.

He lost weight. A lot of weight. He had barely enough energy to go to school and he skipped the after-school sports practice.

Lisa called.

She had thought about it and decided she liked him after all. Would he like to hang out after school?

The sun suddenly shone brighter than ever. The broken flagstone regained its lost luster. If Superman had been around, he would have suggested a friendly competition to see who could go faster than a speeding bullet or clear buildings with a single jump.

What happened?

Where did this boundless energy come from?

It was always inside John. He just hadn’t been able to tap into it.
